Thought to be running its last race before a last-minute reprieve permitted a final appearance at the Rolex 24 in 2017, the Delta Wing has certainly attracted attention. Love it or hate it, it is distinctive – and fragile. It has shown flashes of speed (such as the electric opening to the 2016 Rolex 24 in the hands of the seriously underrated Katherine Legge) but rarely been around at the end of races. Petit LeMans would be no different with an early exit due to engine troubles.
Legge qualified the car which meant she got the start, so she’s the pilot in this shot at the top of Turn 5. If you look carefully through the windscreen, you can see her eyes.
